Confessions of a Renaissance Gal (Kathy)

As kids, we’re continually asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As adults, we’re asked, “What do you do for a living?”

It’s the same with being a blogger; we are told we must have a single focus. I have started many blogs only to give up. I tried to be that specialist and concentrate on one subject that I do have a lot of experience and knowledge with, but when I tried to focus on that one thing, I would feel like I was in prison.

You see, having been a wife for 40+ years (now divorced), raised children, have grandchildren, lived near the ocean, in the mountains, in the desert, on a farm, in the South, even next to Disneyland, and I’ve left a little bit of my heart in all of those places, and I carry a dash of their magic with me.

I have done many things, from being a schoolteacher, a life coach, a foster mother, a subcontract desktop publisher, & graphic designer, working in a bank, and being a boatman on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, just to name a few.

I love gardening, canning, cooking, theme décor, photography, graphic design, decorating, traveling… ugg Sometimes I feel like I’ve got an “I like everything virus”!

I might have passed that on to my daughters. 🤫

I actually thought I was just an indecisive weirdo. But then I found out I'm not the only one with this affliction. Hallelujah!

I am a multi-talented person, that sounds so much better than a weirdo.  A Renaissance gal – I’m certainly old enough to be one of these! And apparently, it’s ok to have more than one focus.

Speaking of being old enough, I was married before home computers became common. (I was married in the 70s). I have not only seen the evolution of them, but I also jumped on board to use them.

This is where I started with graphic design.  Back in the early days, our introduction to computer games was a game we played (in the 70s), Pong, and then in the 80s one that was a dos command action game, Pirate’s Adventure or Cove or something like that. Now it feels like we’ve gone full circle, we have AI Prompts, obviously more sophisticated, and a different logic, but hey…

I use technology A LOT, but I’m also a very analog gal too. It’s much healthier.  I have also witnessed the evolution of phones. 

We lived in the country shortly after being married, and our only option for a phone was on a party-line, of course, it was a rotary phone. I have gone through a lot of different phones since then, all the way to my current cell phone with the awesome camera.

And speaking of cameras, I had the Kodak Instamatic in the 60s, and we moved on to the Polaroid that you had to wait and peel the sticky off, and then the ones that shot the photo out of the camera already finished. I loved photography, so I got an SLR and took a New York Institute of Photography Course.

Now I have the 3rd or 4th gen DSLR, but I mostly use my phone! Who would have ever guessed?

Brandy and I have had successful businesses-one ran its trendy course, and the other one was rendered somewhat useless with AI.

Now at my age, I find myself starting over…

For many years, I’ve wanted to create a website to feel like a virtual location, as a countryside escape or a tropical getaway vibe.  I desire to empower moms (maybe you?) who are stressed out and need a getaway, even for a few minutes.

My passion is to share how their physical atmosphere or environment - home, car, work, and even thoughts can affect them.

Also, how play and imagination can benefit them. Using this and their atmosphere to biohack their mindset for happiness, not only for themselves, but also for their family.

From the time I was a little girl. I was aware of the power of our atmosphere.  But it would be several years before I would come to understand the ability to intentionally manipulate the environment to create a specific vibe, a personal paradise.

I even got teased about being a Pollyanna, or Mary Poppins, because I want to make happiness & paradise a lifestyle.

 I just knew that certain places could have a wonderful or even a terrible effect on us, and it is empowering to know the difference.

I have heard it said, “The atmosphere you create determines the product you produce.” 

I think it’s about time we created an atmosphere of paradise for our own home, health, and happiness. 

We can even benefit from nature in ways we never realized.

I have much to share, utilizing various ways for bringing paradise home.

Side note: The elephant in the room these days is AI. Some people love it, some hate it, & some fear it, honestly, for good reasons. I think we’ve opened Pandora’s box, and I have mixed emotions about it.

Through the years, all new technology has scared people in various ways. But I wasn’t about to shy away from learning about it.

As you see, we do use AI, mostly for graphic designs, it helps create that virtual location faster. Besides, it owes me! 😉
